The London Borough of Merton has chosen the road-towable CAMON C300 Commercial Shredder as their preferred machine for disposing of their green waste around sites in the borough. The Council purchased the unit through Ernest Doe & Sons at Esher in Surrey.

The CAMON C300 Commercial Shredder is powered by a fuel-efficient 36hp diesel engine and material is fed into the hammer mill by a hydraulic roller controlled by an electronic “no-stress” system. This outstanding shredder is ideal for the continuous reduction of large volumes of green waste and is capable of shredding and reducing a vast range of material up to 10cm (4”) in diameter into recyclable mulch. Unlike a wood chipper there are no cutting blades to be maintained. The shredding hammers on the C300 will not be damaged by sharp items like stones and nails – they will never require sharpening and have a life expectancy of up to 800 hours. The design of the hammers ensures that the C300 excels in the reduction of wet, green material including leaves, hedge prunings and brushwood which would typically clog up a conventional wood chipper.
