CEMEX have supplied 180 tonnes of precast concrete slabs and edge copings for recently completed platform extensions at Poplar Station on the Docklands Light Railway in London.

Cemex

The project is the first of several platform extensions which are being carried out in preparation for the 2012 Games. Poplar Station is the central hub of the DLR network and night time deliveries of the precast units was essential because this was the only time contractors, Cleshar, had possession of the station.

The platforms were constructed in a tapered design which meant that each precast unit was a different size and shape. CEMEX worked closely with Cleshar Contracting Services to ensure that their casting sequence matched the installation programme.

CEMEX manufacturers a wide range of building materials including Block Paving, Dense and Lightweight blocks, Architectural Masonry as well as a wide range of Concrete Roof Tiles and associated fittings.
