NEWDIGATE CRICKET CLUB BOWLED OVER BY NEW NOTTS SPORT INSTALLATION!

A village cricket club which has added an artificial turf extension to its bowling end is so pleased with the Notts Sport-designed facility that it’s now hoping to commission another project from the company.

Notts Sport, the world’s leading supplier of synthetic cricket surfacing systems, was behind the installation of the artificial turf run-ups to the twin nets at Newdigate Cricket Club in Surrey.

The nets are used constantly throughout the summer by adults and juniors, but during periods of wet weather the club previously had to close the facility due to the muddy conditions. Now the new non-slip Notts Sport artificial turf surface means the nets can be used whatever the weather.

John Callcut, Junior Cricket and Volunteer Co-ordinator for the club, explains: “When the ground was wet the bowlers’ run-ups became muddy and the mud transferred to the bowling ends and made them slippery and dangerous. We were then forced to close the nets on safety grounds.

“We ordered artificial run-ups from Notts Sports which have completely solved the problem.”

The project, which included a new sight screen at the end of the run-ups and rodent proof netting, was carried out by Notts Sport approved installers S & C Slatter, who impressed the club with their professional approach.

Newdigate Cricket Club is now hoping to install new batting ends and replacement poles in time for next season and will be making a funding application to Sport England's Inspire Fund in February 2012.

John added: “We will certainly use Notts Sports again as we have been very pleased with the new installation and their attention to detail.”

Shaun Patrick, chairman of Notts Sport, said: “Notts Sport is a big backer of the grassroots game, and so it is a real delight to be part of the transformation of the practice nets at Newdigate Cricket Club.

“It’s fantastic to have helped provide a facility which will help cricketers of all ages practise throughout the season, whatever the weather, for years to come.”

Notts Sport, which has 27 years’ experience in the synthetic sports and play surfacing industry, is the world’s leading supplier of non-turf cricket pitch systems for coaching, practice and match play.

The company offers a choice of seven artificial pitches – including the NottsBase D System and Envelope System, which can be designed and installed as matchplay or practice facilities – plus bespoke systems and a range of portable training mats for indoor and outdoor use.
